Vern Horntvedt started Lake-O-Woods Marine in 1978 as a marine service facility in Baudette, Minnesota. The business began to grow and in 1986 it moved to its current location at 3208 Bur Oak Rd NW. In 2000, Allan Thompson took over from Vern and changed the name to Lake of the Woods Marine. In 2014, Lake of the Woods Marine expanded and increased the size of the parts room, doubled the size of the showroom, and tripled the size of the shop. Lake of the Woods Marine became the bulk steel carrier for the area and outfitted a stall in the old shop for cutting and storage of the steel. In 2017, Lake of the Woods Marine added a dedicated shop stall on for fiberglass repair. Lake of the Woods Marine has 5 pole sheds on site for summer or winter indoor storage. Lake of the Woods Marine also has 2 off-site pole sheds for indoor winter/summer storage. Currently, we are a boat dealer that offers quality new, used, and consignment boats. Lake of the Woods Marine is a dealer of Skeeter, Alumacraft, Warrior, and SportCraft boats. We are also dealers of Mercury, Yamaha, Suzuki, and Evinrude outboard motors and Yanmar and MerCruiser engines. We are a SnoBear dealer and repair center. All of our technicians are factory trained and authorized.
